Hi, my name is Greg Rouse, my webmasters name is Bill Rishsew and in 1999, using modern technology, we realized we could do a better job than the traditional guidebooks, so we designed a free website for the do-it-yourself outdoors person that photo-documents trails with interactive maps, detailed route descriptions and current weather forecasts.

We started way back in 1999 as one of the first outdoor sites to document trails and we're still going today with numerous trails for you to explore. Yes there have been many copycats since that time, but we’re still here and we’ll always be free.

We would like to thank you for the interest you have shown in our site. We are part of an industry that recognizes the value, character and inherent well-being that comes from the great outdoors. Our website recognizes that there is a need for resources to help the do-it-yourself or self-guided adventurer.

Most people, if given the proper information can and would like to venture into the outdoors on their own without having to pay someone to take them.

Now, we know that guides serve a great purpose in the outdoor industry, but it seems that most Internet resources only point in this direction and as a result there's nothing out there for the self-guided adventurer. This is where WildernessTrip.com comes in; we are developing an Internet resource for the self-guided adventurer. Let's face it, most people cannot afford to regularly pay some guide to take them hiking in Napal or kayaking in Costa Rica or even locally for that matter, but they can access their own National Forest.

Many years of experience have taught us that getting through the planning and preparation stages are often the most difficult hurdles to overcome in realizing this goal.
